Solid Waste Management

Solid Waste Management 01

Solid wastes, construction & demolition debris (C&DD), and hazardous wastes are generated as consequence of today’s society.  The State regulates the creation of landfills and their use for the disposal of waste due to their potential for environmental effects on groundwater, surface water, soils and the air.  In order to manage these waste streams effectively wastes are now disposed of based on the potential impacts to the environments and are identified as Class I, II and III or hazardous waste.

Water & Air has assisted the Solid Waste Industry including municipalities and private waste companies to meet its regulatory requirements for compliance, monitoring–including groundwater, surface water, and leachate sampling, permitting, assessment, and, if warranted, cleanup for Class I Sub Title D and Class III C&DD Landfills. We are  well versed in using the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) required electronic data deliverables (EDD) and the ADaPT software program.  Water & Air can also assist the County or City engineer during permit renewals by conducting the necessary hydrogeologic investigation and completing Sections L and M for inclusion into the permit application.
